Martin Bell Baritone

MARTIN BELL is a resident of Oakland.  He  was a boy soprano and sang with several professional children's groups, including performances with the Metropolitan Opera Children's chorus in his native New York City.He began his adult study of voice with Professor Dorothy Ornest, at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he majored in Political Science and German Language. He continued his studies with Robert Honeysucker at the New England Conservatory of Music.

  While in Boston he won a scholarship to study opera performance at the Crittenden Opera Workshop. After a long hiatus from performing, he made a return 4 years ago and since has been a very frequent performer in the Bay Area in opera, concert and recital. 

Opera performances include singing the role of Valentin with Berkeley Opera's Faust, Nick Shadow with Oakland Opera Theater's Rake's Progress and Zurga in Capital Opera's production of Les Pecheurs des Perles. Concert performances include bass soloist with West Marin Festival Orchestra's Saint John's Passion and Oakland Festival Chorus's Messiah. He made company debuts this spring with North Bay Opera and with San Francisco Lyric Opera.
