Alexander Katsman

Conductor

Alexander comes from St.Petersburg, Russia. Mr. Katsman holds degrees from the St. Petersburg Conservatory and M. Mussorgsky College of Music. Since arriving in the Bay Area in 1990, he has been in demand as a conductor, concert pianist and accompanist.His conducting credits include among others, productions of Der Rosenkavalier, La Juive, Die Fledermaus, Gianni Schicchi, The Impresario, Andrea Chenier, The Merry Widow, Kismet, The Student Prince, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Fiddler on the Roof and The Most Happy Fella.

Mr. Katsman is the artistic director for the Alexander Vocal Series at the Zion Lutheran Church in Piedmont. He is on the coaching staff at the San Francisco Conservatory and Holy Names College Opera Workshop. This summer Alexander will participate (for the second time) in the Merola Program at San Francisco Opera and later will be conducting Sweeney Todd at the Regional Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek.
